He is still in EOCO’s custody — Kofi Akpaloo’s brother

A brother of Percival Kofi Akpaloo, leader of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), has revealed new details about the embattled politician’s arrest, insisting that the family was left in the dark about the reasons behind his detention.
Speaking to Okay FM, he explained that EOCO officials whisked Mr. Akpaloo from his home to Accra without any immediate clarification.
“They picked him up without telling us why. Up until now, we are only piecing things together from what has come out later,” he said.
His comments add a personal dimension to the unfolding case, which has drawn national attention.
According to the Deputy Attorney General, Justice Srem Sai, Mr. Akpaloo was arrested on September 3, 2025, over alleged involvement in fraud, causing financial loss to the state, dissipation of public funds, and money laundering.
He was subsequently granted a GHC10 million bond with two sureties, though he remains in EOCO custody pending fulfilment of the bail terms.
