He speaks Mahama’s mind—Akosua Manu goes hard on Felix over AirMed controversy

A leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) communication team, Akosua Asaa Manu, has sharply criticized Felix Kwakye Ofosu, spokesperson for former President John Mahama, accusing him of fumbling through the ongoing AirMed saga with what she described as a “confused and incoherent” defense.

Speaking on The Forum with host Wilberforce Asare, Asaa Manu took issue with Kwakye Ofosu’s shifting narrative and his attempt to downplay serious concerns surrounding the scandal.

“It is ridiculous for him to say the things he said. When you lie and you are not smart in lying, everything you say is an afterthought.

“Because by the end of [last] Monday, Felix had introduced four planes into the conversation,” she remarked, expressing disbelief over what she called inconsistency in his claims.

She didn’t stop there. In a bold assertion, Manu suggested that Felix Kwakye Ofosu may not just be speaking for himself but directly representing the thoughts and intentions of former President Mahama.

“If anybody comes to say that even the President is not aware of these issues, I beg to differ because Felix is speaking the mind of the President when he comes to talk to us. He has even said they are not interested in following the investigations as far as they are concerned.”

Her comments add to the mounting political tension surrounding the AirMed issue, with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) already under fire from critics who claim the party has been evasive and dismissive about the implications of the controversy.

Asaa Manu also took the opportunity to raise serious concerns about the way Reverend Ntim Fordjour, a sitting Member of Parliament, was reportedly treated by operatives of the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB). The MP’s home was said to have been stormed by a group of men, which she described as excessive and possibly intimidatory.

“To make an example of Rev Ntim Fordjour, was that a threat? To have 15 to 20 men move into his house and he is a Member of Parliament for that matter?”

She went further to question the official narrative that the MP had simply been “invited” for questioning, highlighting the lack of transparency and documentation.

“You claim he was invited by the NIB and you said the invitation went through the Speaker. How come we haven’t seen the letter, knowing how they like to release things and evidence and all that? Why haven’t we seen the letter inviting him?”

The AirMed controversy, which has cast a shadow over recent political discourse, continues to unfold, drawing heated commentary from both sides of the political divide. Asaa Manu’s remarks signal the NPP’s growing frustration with what it sees as deliberate obfuscation and a lack of accountability from its opponents.
