He was a master planner – Colleague remembers Dr. Omane Boamah

Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Rashid Tanko-Computer has shared new details about the late Defence Minister, Dr. Omane Boamah, in the hours before the tragic military helicopter crash.

Rashid described Dr. Boamah as a master planner who played a pivotal role in election strategies. “Around 7:45 am, Dr Omane was giving us strategies on how to go about the Akwatia by-election.

He gave us all this strategy because Dr Omane was a master planner. He was behind all these things that we’re doing [in winning elections],” he said on JoyNews’ PM Express.

Rashid added, “He would sit down, put pen and paper together, map out the strategy, and say, ‘You go and handle this and that,’ and sit back. And we’d go and bring him an A+. That is how he was.”

Reflecting on the tragic day, he revealed that Dr. Boamah had not informed colleagues about his travel plans. “So that morning, we had finished all this thing, and were to report back to him by evening, but he didn’t tell us that he was travelling. None of us knew he was going to travel.”

Dr. Omane Boamah’s dedication, planning skills, and hands-on approach left a lasting impression on his colleagues, making his untimely death in the helicopter crash even more tragic.
