He was an honest, God-fearing man

Former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has paid glowing tribute to the late Wulugu Naba Prof. John S. Nabila, describing him as an honest God-fearing man who was a trusted advisor of his.
Dr Bawumia described him as a big tree which has fallen while extending his condolences to his family, the Mamprugu and all Ghanaians.
“I have received with profound sadness the passing of a father figure and trusted advisor to me, Wulugu Naba Prof. John Sebiyam Nabila, a former President of the National House of Chiefs. A brilliant man, a kind man, a God-fearing man, an honest man. A big tree has indeed fallen.
I visited him in the hospital last week and prayed for his recovery but God knows best.
I extend my sincerest condolences to his wife and children, his family, the people of Ghana, Mamprugu and the North East region. May Wulugu Naba’s soul rest in eternal peace,” the statement read.
Naba Prof. Nabila died on 27th October 2025 after a short illness. Among others, the late Paramount Chief of the Wulugu Traditional Area was a Professor of Geography at the University of Ghana. He became President of the National House of Chiefs and served as Minister for Information and Tourism in the Limann government.
