He’s A Problem Solver And Generational Thinker – Bawumia on Napo

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the vice president and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has commended President Akufo-Addo for establishing a strong economic foundation in spite of the global economic crisis that was exacerbated by COVID-19 and the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
He thinks that having this foundation would help him to present fresh ideas and approaches that will promote economic expansion and benefit all.
He claimed that in spite of the economic difficulties the NPP government has encountered, it has outperformed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the John Dramani Mahama administration in every area of the economy, including sports, energy, roads, health, and agriculture.

At a massive rally in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, Dr. Bawumia formally introduced Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, his running mate, to the throngs of party supporters. He emphasized Napo’s problem-solving abilities, result-oriented approach, and strong legislative background as qualities he would bring to the table to help realize his vision for the nation.
“After searching all over the country, I settled on the Ashanti Region to choose my running mate from. I also settled on Napo as my running mate. He has knowledge – the two of us have worked together for the last sixteen (16) years. I have high respect for him. He is a problem solver; he is a generational thinker, and so, I know that the two of us share the same vision”, he noted.
He added “I know that when he becomes my vice, we can work together and bring bold solutions for the people of Ghana. Therefore, I am very confident in Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh. Our ticket is a ticket of youth; and it is a ticket of experience”.
Napo, as Dr. Prempeh is lovingly known, urged the UP tradition in the Ashanti Region and the rest of the country to dedicate themselves to the campaign, stressing unity as their greatest weapon to defeat their political opponents. This was done in a spirited display of his confidence, energy, and toughness.
Saying that the party’s rank and file should never again allow the divisions that cost them power in 2008 to happen, he emphasized that on January 7, 2025, “President Akufo-Addo will hand over power to Dr. Bawumia” because of their unity.
“When President Akufo-Addo retires, Dr. Bawumia will come. This has never happened in the history of the NPP. No President, since independence, has helped Ghana more than President Akufo-Addo, not even Kwame Nkrumah”, he noted.
He added “Whatever President Akufo-Addo came to do, Dr. Bawumia will come and take it to the next level”.
