How can you increase OGM budget by 200%? – Abdul-Kabiru gov’t spending

Member of Parliament for Walewal, Mahama Tiah Abdul-Kabiru has raised concerns over what he describes as extravagant spending under President Mahama’s administration, questioning the justification for the GH₵4.1 billion budgeted for the Office of Government Machinery (OGM).
In a Facebook post, he pointed out that while the government argues that OGM now includes the National Security Ministry and the Ministry of Information, several agencies that were under OGM during Akufo-Addo’s tenure—such as the Zongo Development Fund, Northern Development Authority, and National Identification Authority—have been removed.
Tiah highlighted that even with a projected salary increase for National Security and Information Ministry employees, there remains an unexplained GH₵1.2 billion.
“How can you increase OGM by about 200% and still have the moral courage to mount a spirited defense?” he questioned.
According to him, the drastic increase contradicts the government’s claim of reducing staffers and cutting costs.
“This is pure extravagance and unconscionable. Ghanaians deserve better, and the sins of this government should not go unreported,” he wrote.
