Don’t even dream about it – Kwesi Pratt warns against Mahama third term

Veteran journalist Kwesi Pratt Jnr has warned against any attempts to push for a third term for former President John Dramani Mahama, saying such an idea would be met with fierce resistance across the political divide.

Speaking on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, which Pratt monitored, Pratt cautioned: “Let nobody even dream—dream—about a third term for President Mahama. None of us is going to accept that. It doesn’t make sense.”

He warned that any move in that direction would provoke serious political unrest.
“If it happens, they should expect massive resistance from across political party lines,” he declared emphatically.

Kwesi Pratt was responding to speculation allegedly being circulated by elements within the New Patriotic Party (NPP). “Now, that’s not to say the NPP’s speculation has any grounds—it has no grounds whatsoever. There’s no indication that President Mahama is going for a third term,” he said.

But he stressed that even the suggestion of a third term should be stamped out immediately.
“Just in case someone is thinking about it, they should be very sure that Ghanaians will not tolerate it,” he warned.

Pratt also commented on President Mahama’s latest directive that all appointees who missed the March 31st asset declaration deadline would be dismissed if they failed to comply by the end of the day.

“Everybody is watching. Either they all comply or the president takes punitive action. Let’s see what the presidency will do by close of day,” he said.
