How prophetess gruesomely murdered ex-headmaster – Police details

Shocking details have emerged from the Ashanti North Regional Police Command about how a self-styled prophetess allegedly masterminded the gruesome murder of Eric Obeng Darko, a former headmaster of Dampong Senior High School.

According to the police, Prophetess Elizabeth Darkwah, 48, lured Mr. Darko into what appeared to be a spiritual scheme, promising to help him uncover ancient family gold. In 2024, she is said to have convinced the deceased to part with an undisclosed amount of money under the pretext that a hidden gold treasure belonging to his lineage could be spiritually revealed and purified for sale.

The prophetess allegedly visited Mr. Darko’s home in Bampenase near Mamponteng at night, accompanied by Mubarak Mohammed, a 38-year-old accomplice. The duo dug up 20 yellowish items and presented them as gold, claiming they required special purification at her church.

But what seemed like a spiritual breakthrough quickly turned sinister.

Repeated efforts by Mr. Darko to reach the prophetess for the so-called purification ceremony were ignored. Investigations reveal that Prophetess Darkwah then plotted with Mohammed and three other accomplices — still at large — to eliminate the victim before he could arrive at her church.

The plan culminated in a horrific murder. Mr. Darko was reportedly abducted and taken to Aboabugya. When he tried to escape, police say Mohammed deliberately knocked him down with a Honda Odyssey vehicle and ran over him, ending his life.

The two suspects have been arrested and charged, and are currently on remand. They are expected to reappear in court on July 4, 2025, as police continue their manhunt for the remaining suspects.

The case has left many in shock, raising concerns about the dangers of spiritual scams and the vulnerability of those who fall prey to them.
