I disagree with any attempts to use state security to muzzle people – Barker-Vormawor

Convener of the Fix the Country Movement, Oliver Barker-Vormawor, has disagreed with the invitation extended to the Bono Region Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwame Baffoe (Abronye) by
the National Investigations Bureau (NIB).
He says he disagrees with any attempts to use the state security resources to muzzle; even people we find disagreeable or who may by their politics disgust you.
In a Facebook, post, he said “I have seen a letter of the NIB (I prefer BNI) inviting Abronye DC to substantiate allegations of corruption against the current president. Might be just me, but the tone to me seems confrontational rather than intended to elicit support to investigate criminal allegations.
“I disagree with any attempts to use the state security resources to muzzle; even people we find disagreeable or who may by their politics disgust you. If the state truly believed in the plausibility of what Abronye said, they should speak to him nicely; as someone invested in helping unravel crime. Knowing who Abronye is, I will be surprised that will be your first intelligent reaction.
“If it is however shadow attempt to intimidate. Which is what I take it for. I rebuke it! Do not be led astray by power. I spoke against the midget’s abuse; I won’t tolerate same from a giant! Be careful of these overzealous officers. They will bring the esteem of your Government down, quicker than Zaccheaus came down the sycamore tree. Speech rights protect displeasant speech. Let the civil process cure injuring speech; not a BNI officer!”
Abronye was invited by the NIB to appear on February 26, 2025 over some allegations he made against President John Mahama.
According to a letter from the NIB, Mr Baffoe has been summoned to assist the NIB in investigating his claims against the President.
He allegedly accused President Mahama of withholding GH₵550 million intended for dismissed appointees at the Jubilee House while speaking Accra-based Movement Television.
