Reckless politicians will lead to a coup – Okey Bakassi

Popular Nigerian comedian Okey Bakassi has voiced strong concerns over the growing arrogance of politicians in the country, warning that their unchecked actions could have dire consequences.

In a candid statement, Bakassi lamented the increasing intolerance of politicians toward criticism, stating that they now behave as if they are above the law.

“Nigeria politicians are now behaving like they’re gods and untouchable. If you talk, they will lock and arrest you. This is how they will continue in this recklessness until the military decides to do a coup and take over the country,” he said.

The comedian expressed frustration over the suppression of free speech, arguing that citizens who speak out against the government risk being targeted by authorities.

He further suggested that politicians will only call on the people to defend democracy when their own interests are threatened.

Okey Bakassi, born Okechukwu Anthony Onyegbule, is a Nigerian comedian, actor, and television personality.

He gained prominence in the Nigerian entertainment industry through his unique blend of stand-up comedy and acting.
