I filed to protect myself

Porsha Williams has opened up for the first time since finalizing her divorce from Simon Guobadia, describing the experience as a “nightmare” she never anticipated.
In a recent interview with People, the Real Housewives of Atlanta star revealed she ended the marriage not due to infidelity, but because of broken trust and legal issues surrounding her ex-husband that made her feel unsafe.
“I filed before I was ready — I filed out of necessity to protect myself,” she admitted.
The reality star said the process was emotionally draining, especially for her daughter Pilar, but credited her support system—including ex-fiancé Dennis McKinley and her family—for helping her through it.
Despite the ordeal, Porsha walked away with a favorable settlement, including spousal support and legal costs covered. She also praised herself for approaching this marriage differently:
“This time, I came in as a businesswoman. I did a prenup. I was responsible,” she said.
Now refocusing on her career and personal healing, Williams isn’t in a rush to start dating again but remains optimistic about love in the future.
“I feel Porsha coming back,” she said. “I’m finally able to exhale.”
