I find it highly disingenuous – Dame on Ayine’s accusations in Ambulance case

Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has refuted allegations of ethical misconduct in the ambulance procurement case involving current Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson.
During a press conference on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, Dame’s successor, Dr. Dominic Ayine accused Godfred Dame of unethical conduct in the ambulance trial case.
Dr. Ayine alleged that Dame had engaged in unethical and unprofessional behaviour in his handling of the prosecution of the case, which involves the procurement of 200 ambulances under the previous John Mahama administration.
The prosecution in their case alleged financial mismanagement and irregularities in the awarding of the contract.
Addressing a press conference on Friday, February 14, 2025, Godfred Dame responded to Dr. Ayine’s accusation describing it false and untrue.
“Dr. Ayine’s unfounded allegations insinuating unethical conduct on my part in the conduct of the Ambulance trial, the Republic vrs Dr. Ato Forson and two others is highly disingenuous and rather unfortunately recaps a series of falsehoods peddled by foot soldiers of the NDC and other uninformed members of society,” Godfred Dame said.
He further criticised Dr. Ayine who he says should be the last person to accuse him of unethical conduct when he’s facing disciplinary action by the General Legal Council.
“I must say that I find it quite ironical for Dr. Ayine who is a subject of a disciplinary proceeding for professional misconduct still pending at the General Legal Council filed by the former Chief Justice himself to accuse me of unethical conduct,” Dame remarked.
He questioned the appointment of Dr. Ayine as Attorney-General considering his disciplinary case before the General Legal Council.
In the interest of the nation, the case of professional misconduct pending against Dr. Ayine at the General Legal Council should have been determined before the parliamentary assessment of his suitability or otherwise for the high office of the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice.
