I left GFA job due to personal reasons and not FA’s third term for President

The Chairman of the Ghana FA U-19 Elite Championship Management Committee, Abdul Salam Yakubu, has denied quitting his position at the Ghana Football Association in protest of some decisions taken at the GFA’s congress.

According to him, he resigned based on personal reasons that have nothing to do with the decision of the Ghana Football Association to amend its constitution to give the FA’s president a third term.

Speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM, Abdul Salam Yakubu indicated that he was grateful to the Ghana Football Association for the honor they made him, considering the fact that he has never supported the president in any of the elections in which he contested.

He explained that he was not forced or coaxed by anyone to resign, indicating that he is his own man and makes decisions based on his convictions.

“I have resigned. I resigned immediately after the congress. However, the content of the resignation letter is not what you are reading. I did not write that I resigned because of the election. I thank the GFA President because I have never supported him, but he found me worthy, and in 2025, he gave me work to do. He does not owe me, but he found me worthy of a position and gave me work to do, but I feel I am doing one or two, and I am not in tandem with one or two things, so I had to resign.
