I stand for honesty and hard work – Kwabena Agyepong

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, is calling on the party to reconnect with its founding values of honesty, humility, and hard work.

Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen, Agyepong stressed that the NPP’s strength has always come from its principled beginnings — not money or fame, but sacrifice and a genuine desire to serve Ghana.

“I want to represent the soul of the NPP and the values of honesty, humility, and hard work. That’s the kind of leadership I stand for,” he stated.

Recalling his early political days, he shared how, as a young man, he risked it all to support the late Prof. Adu Boahen during a time when openly campaigning for the NPP was dangerous.

“There was only one state broadcaster, and when you spoke there, everyone was listening. It wasn’t easy, but we took the risk to defend the party’s vision,” he recounted.

“I didn’t do it for money or recognition. I did it for the love of Ghana and the party,” Agyepong added.

He believes the NPP must realign with these original values if it hopes to sustain trust and remain relevant in Ghana’s political future.
