I support even those I’m not cool with

Sista Afia has addressed the long-running conversation about camaraderie and mutual support in Ghana’s music industry, revealing that she has felt both appreciation and disappointment from her colleagues.
During her chat with Andy Dosty on Hitz FM, the singer acknowledged that while she does receive encouragement from some peers, broader industry support remains limited. “Not everyone supports you.
“But the ones I’m close to, they do their best. Shoutouts to Medikal, Wendy Shay, Sefa, Efya Nocturnal, they always repost my songs,” she said in the interview monitored by MyNewsGh.
Still, the artist admits she once got disheartened. “I remember saying I was done supporting anyone because I kept doing it willingly, and it wasn’t being reciprocated,” she said. “But I’ve learned. Now, I support who supports me.”
For Sista Afia, genuine connection outweighs popularity contests.
“When you win, I win. We’re all in this together,” she said, reaffirming her belief that collaboration, not rivalry, is the true key to growth in the Ghanaian music scene.
