I want only the facts and things that touch the hearts of people – Morrison on campaign strategy

Cynthia Morrison, the former NPP minister turned independent, gave a candid glimpse into the realities of political operations and campaigns in an interview on Starr FM.

She described how her approach relies on extemporaneous decision-making and firsthand observation rather than relying entirely on written reports.

“My chief director said, ‘How do you do it?’ because these things take three days to write. And you just read it? I say, yes, I want only the facts, and I want to do things that will touch the hearts of people, not just paperwork,” Morrison explained.

She described how she engages directly with events and people, gaining insights that go beyond formal reports.

Morrison recounted a personal experience during a Central Region campaign where she accompanied a party leader throughout a “showdown,” witnessing interactions and organizational strategy firsthand.

“I was with him. I guess he left from here to there and the showdown started. I pushed him in the car and I sat with him. I saw everything that happened,” she said.

She also shared her impressions of competence in action, noting how observing leaders in real situations informs her judgment.

“If he was not competent, I would have told him straight. I’m telling you the truth. He knows,” she said, highlighting her commitment to transparency and honesty.
