Kojo Oppong Nkrumah defends Felix Kwakye-Ofosu over suspicious flight claims

Former Information Minister, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has stepped in to defend Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, amid ongoing controversy surrounding reports of suspicious flights allegedly linked to drug trafficking and money laundering at the Kotoka International Airport.

In what appears to be a show of solidarity, Oppong Nkrumah emphasized that Kwakye-Ofosu did not fabricate the information, but simply relayed a briefing that turned out to be incorrect.

“Look at this Air Med matter… I don’t think he cooked up that story. I believe it was a brief he was given. I will defend my brother Felix any day that he is not a liar, and that he is coming to sit there and lie. It is the information that he was given, and he has put out that information and that information is not correct,” Oppong Nkrumah stated.

The remarks come as tensions continue to rise over the allegations, which were initially raised by Assin South MP, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour.

The claims have caused a political stir, with officials denying any wrongdoing while critics accuse the government of a possible cover-up.

Oppong Nkrumah, while acknowledging the sensitive nature of the issue, made it clear that Kwakye-Ofosu’s role as a government spokesperson puts him in a difficult position — one that can easily lead to public misinterpretation.

“How would he know? You are only a government spokesperson, so you will mouth these words and then people will say this guy is a liar. Felix is doing a very difficult job, I wish him well,” he added.
