I won’t oversee a repeat of what happened in Brazil—Mahama

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has indicated that the 2026 World Cup campaign should be transparent and more disciplined.

According to him, he will not oversee a repeat of what happened in Brazil some years ago.

To ensure this, he has asked for transparency from the handlers of the Black Stars and football in the country.

The President spoke to Sporty FM’s Gary Al’Smith in an interview when he made this known.

The President noted that, “To ensure Brazil doesn’t happen again, there should be discipline and transparency. We believe this campaign should be a more disciplined campaign. Aside from that, there should be transparency.

“Often, when decisions are made and funding is opaque and all that, it creates all kinds of rumours in the society and creates all kinds of misperceptions in people’s minds,” he stated.

Ghana has qualified for the 2026 World Cup to be hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.

Black Stars sealed their qualification after beating Comoros by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium.
