I won’t spend on a woman who doesn’t love me

Nigerian filmmaker and traditional ruler Don Sylvester Nweke has delivered blunt views on love, trust, and financial responsibility in marriage discussions circulating online.
Nweke warned young men about choosing partners and spending on relationships. According to him, investing in a woman who does not love you is pointless.
“If you are spending on a woman who doesn’t love you, it’s like pouring water on a stone or waiting for sheep in an airport, it can never arrive,” he said, insisting that genuine affection must come before commitment.
Nweke also advised men to be cautious with trust, especially before marriage. “As a young man that wants to get married, never you trust somebody that is not a virgin,” he stated, later adding, “You love her, but never you believe that she can never cheat on you. Once a cheater is always a cheater.”
The traditional ruler went further to discourage men from financially supporting women outside their families, suggesting they should prioritise their own mothers and sisters instead. “If you want to help a woman, help your sister now, help your mother now,” he said.
He maintained that women asking for financial assistance should seek alternatives.
“When a woman give me bill, I don’t trust it. Worst thing you can do as a woman is to give me bill. If she need it, she should work, she should borrow from bank, she should go to her father.”
He rejected the argument that a man is obligated to provide for a girlfriend, countering, “I’m taking care the way I am. I’m also a baby.”
Nweke concluded by urging men to choose financially independent partners.
“When you go and gather broke people inside your house as a poor man, you will go poor. Go for women that are working, go for women who have something doing, go for women that will come and support you. They are supporter, they should come and support you.”
