If Mahama, Akufo-Addo, Rawlings have been Presidents, why not me?

Former Member of Parliament (MP for Tarkwa Nsuaem Constituency in the Western Region, George Mireku Duker, has taken on skeptics whom he suspects are working tirelessly to undermine his presidential ambition.
According to him, if current President John Dramani Mahama, Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, and late former Presidents Jerry John Rawlings and Evans Fiifi Atta Mills became Presidents, why can he not be one.
He lamented the challenges he is facing within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) due to his purported presidential aspirations.
Speaking to a section of party supporters, the former Deputy Minister under the Akufo-Addo administration did not mince words in stating, “I am a strong contender for the presidency.” This is a goal I have held for a long time, and I am ready to lead the party.”
He revealed in an audio making the rounds on various platforms that his ambitions have drawn resistance from others with their own presidential dreams. “There are people who see me as a threat because they know what I am capable of. That’s why they are joining forces to undermine me,” he said.
Duker also pointed to his geographical roots as a key factor in this pushback. “Previous presidents have come from regions that are not known for abundant natural resources, just like Tarkwa. If I can leverage Tarkwa’s potential, I will be a formidable candidate, and that makes some uneasy.”
“Gifty Kusi is one of my antagonists, but she’s no threat,” he said. “She lacks ambition and capacity. In Parliament, her only use was serving food to colleagues. Aside from the small capacity she holds in the party, she has no prospects in life.”
Despite the opposition, Duker remains unshaken. “I am determined to stay the course. My resolve has never been stronger,” he concluded.
