If Mahama needed something done, it was Muniru – Ofosu Ampofo

Dr. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo has paid an emotional tribute to the late Alhaji Mohammed Muniru, describing him as one of President John Mahama’s most dependable and results-driven aides.

The former National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) recalled his 25-year friendship with Muniru, which began when they were both students at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA).

“We go way back. Whenever he visited my home, we would sit on the floor and watch TV together. He was very hardworking, and I can say he was one of President Mahama’s trusted envoys,” he said in an interview on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen.

Dr. Ofosu Ampofo noted that Muniru was often the go-to person whenever President Mahama needed urgent tasks carried out in the Northern Region.

“If President Mahama needed someone to get something done in the Northern Region, it was Muniru. He was a very trusted lieutenant who always delivered results,” he added.

He further revealed that Muniru had been responsible for managing President Mahama’s farms and was recently appointed to a new role.

Tragically, he lost his life during his very first official trip in that capacity.

“Sadly, on his very first official trip, he met his untimely death,” Dr. Ofosu Ampofo said, describing the loss as a major blow to the party and to those who knew him personally.
