If you don’t like plantain, we can’t date – Falz warns

Everyone has their deal-breakers in love — for Nigerian rapper and lawyer Falz, it’s all about food!
In a light-hearted moment on X, the “Bop Daddy” hitmaker opened up about his favorite meals and how seriously he takes them when it comes to relationships.
For Falz, plantain isn’t just food — it’s a love language. And if you’re not a fan? Well, according to him, that’s “serious grounds for breakup.”
He didn’t stop there. Falz shared that if he had to stick to one meal for the rest of his life, it would easily be boiled yam and fried eggs. Simple, classic, and clearly close to his heart.
But while he poured love on plantain and yam, Falz wasn’t as generous to semo (semovita). He playfully dragged the dish, saying, “I wouldn’t advise eating semo in the morning… or any time of the day in fact. It shouldn’t be food.”
Trust Falz to always keep it real — even when it’s just about what’s on his plate!
Falz, whose real name is Folarin Falana, is a Nigerian rapper, singer, songwriter, and actor. He’s also a trained lawyer — he actually graduated from law school in both Nigeria and the UK!
Falz is well known for mixing humor, storytelling, and social commentary into his music. Some of his popular songs include “Soft Work,” “This Is Nigeria,” “Bop Daddy,” and “Something Light.”
Beyond music, he’s acted in several Nollywood movies and TV series, earning awards for his acting too.
He’s the son of famous Nigerian human rights lawyer Femi Falana (SAN), so activism and speaking out about social issues kind of run in his blood.
