Only on social media will you learn your own history from strangers— Obi Cubana’s wife says

Lush Eby, wife of popular Nigerian businessman and nightlife mogul Obi Cubana, has finally spoken out in the wake of an online controversy surrounding her husband’s adopted son.

The young man had gone viral on TikTok after publicly declaring himself as Obi Cubana’s next of kin — a claim that set off a wave of speculation and unsolicited commentary online.

Taking to Instagram, Lush Eby addressed the situation in a cryptic yet pointed post, highlighting how social media has become a place where strangers confidently rewrite people’s personal stories.

“Only on social media do you encounter people sharing your life story as if they know you personally,” she wrote. “Only here will you learn about your own history from strangers who’ve never even met you.”

She also called out individuals who, in their attempt to stir drama, often shift blame onto women, particularly wives and mothers.

“And only on social media will you see people blaming wives and mothers because of their own misguided thoughts and evil ideas… because that’s who they are,” she added, followed by a series of emoticons suggesting a mix of disbelief and amusement.

While Lush Eby didn’t mention names, her timing and tone suggest she was responding directly to the viral “next-of-kin” claims and the commentary that followed.

Still, she managed to switch gears and bring focus back to her husband’s 50th birthday celebrations, which she has been actively involved in organizing.

“I’m still soaking in the celebration of the #50for50 birthday party for Okpataozueora!” she wrote, using Obi Cubana’s traditional title.
“Like I said before, the entire month of April is dedicated to you, babe.”

She also revealed a unique personal contribution to the event:

“I curated 50 Igbo titles that describe the personality of @obi_cubana — it wasn’t easy,” she said with a laugh.
