I’ll support Dr Bawumia’s bid to lead NPP in 2028—Adwoa Safo

Former Gender and Social Protection Minister, Sarah Adwoa Safo has urged the New Patriotic Party to maintain Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the next election.

According to her, there is no need to change the party’s 2024 flagbearer because the defeat is through no fault of his.

Adwoa Safo who was speaking on Accra-based Asempa FM indicated that per the political party’s history, none of their flagbearers have been able to win at their first attempt.

Therefore, the privilege given to the John Agyekum Kufour and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo must be given to Dr Mahamudu Bawumia in the next election.

“We will support him. Every person deserves a second chance. Nana Akufo-Addo won the election on the third attempt. People even said that he had been cursed and could not become president, but he became president. So why have we presented a ticket, and you’ll come and say we should not present him again?

“We know that as a government we were wicked to the Ghanaian people. MPs were targeted when they spoke about the government but we all know that they were telling the truth. Even Prof Mills didn’t win on his first try. There was no reshuffle during the eight years. Government even sacked some persons and that also affected our base. The last-minute sacking by the president was very useless and that brought about the apathy,” she said on Asempa FM.
