I’m a good candidate and I will win – Wontumi declares intent to become NPP’s next National Chairman

Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, has boldly declared his ambition to lead the party as its next National Chairman. According to him, his unmatched dedication and years of unflinching support make him the right man for the job.
“I’ve been consistent, I’ve been selfless, and I’ve always sacrificed for this party,” he said in an interview with Oheneba Aseidu on Wontumi TV. “Everything I’ve done has come from my own pocket, not from any government position, because I’ve never held one.”
Recounting his contributions over the years, Chairman Wontumi revealed that in both 2014 and 2018, he personally paid for all forms for polling station, constituency, and regional aspirants within the party.
“In 2022, I did the same but focused on the Ashanti region, even covering the nomination forms of my own opponent,” he added.
His commitment, he said, isn’t limited to regional efforts. He claimed to have financed the 2015 NPP National Congress in Tamale with a whopping one billion old cedis, all in a bid to push the party forward during a crucial period.
“I used articulator trucks to distribute uniforms, books, and pens across the country between 2014 and 2016. I didn’t wait for the party to ask. I just did it,” Wontumi recounted, underscoring his passion for grassroots mobilization.
As a former Bosomtwe Constituency Chairman and now serving his third term as Regional Chairman, Wontumi believes the time is ripe to take his leadership to the national level.
“I’ve served this party faithfully. I built a constituency office from scratch when I was chairman. I’ve paid monthly contributions to the national office. I’ve sponsored every youth event in the region. What else is left to prove?” he questioned.
