I’m not sorry – Abdul-Hamid sets himself apart from ‘nice guys’ in NPP

In the wake of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) loss in the 2024 general elections, one voice in the party isn’t singing the usual tune of apology or blame-shifting — and that’s Dr. Mustapha Abdul-Hamid.
The former CEO of the National Petroleum Authority and a key figure in the NPP, Dr. Abdul-Hamid, made it clear during the party’s ongoing Thank You Tour that he has no regrets about the campaign, the outcome, or the party’s bold attempt to “Break the 8.”
“The general secretary and others are nice guys, but I am not a very nice guy. They might say they are sorry, but walaahi, I am not sorry about anything,” he declared, with conviction that left no room for misinterpretation.
This bold statement drew a clear line between himself and others within the party’s leadership who may be toeing a softer line in the aftermath of defeat. For Abdul-Hamid, the NPP gave its all, and that — he believes — is enough to stand on with pride.
“We did our best for this country, and there is nothing that John Mahama will do that will match up to what we have done. Nothing, walaahi, nothing,” he emphasized.
