Interior Minister to brief Ghanaians on 2020 & 2024 electoral violence

Interior Minister Muntaka Mohammed will today brief the country on the violence that marred the 2020 and 2024 elections.

This comes after the president of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, called on the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to investigate the violence that marred the elections.

Information Minister Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who speaks for the government, announced in a social media post that this briefing will take place at 2 pm today.

He explained that the Minister will announce sanctions meted out to perpetrators of the various electoral violence.

His post read “In January this year, President Mahama asked the IGP to conduct investigations into the killings and violence that occured during the 2020 and 2024 Elections. At 2pm today, Minister for the Interior,Hon Muntaka Mohamed-Mubarak, will brief the nation on the details of the investigation report and actions taken against the perpetrators”.
