Is this a mobile forex bureau? NPP communicator mocks Sammy Gyamfi over viral dollar video

The controversy surrounding a viral video of Acting Ghana Gold Board CEO Sammy Gyamfi handing out crisp dollar notes to self-styled prophetess Nana Agradaa has taken another twist, as a New Patriotic Party (NPP) communicator, Philip Twum Yeboah, publicly questioned the source of Gyamfi’s wealth and the peculiar setting of the transaction.

Appearing on Movement TV’s Movement in the Morning show, Twum Yeboah appeared baffled by the luxury and boldness on display.

“I don’t know whether he is now a forex bureau officer,” he remarked sarcastically, questioning whether Gyamfi’s plush Range Rover Autobiography had been converted into a mobile currency exchange hub.

Twum Yeboah called on the Financial Intelligence Centre to immediately step in. “If he is spending dollars, he should be able to tell us his source,” he demanded, stressing the need for a deeper probe into Gyamfi’s financial conduct and the origin of the foreign currency seen in the viral footage.

Meanwhile, the woman at the centre of the video, Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, has attempted to calm the storm.

In a live broadcast on Instagram, she pledged to return the money—and even double it—saying she does not want to be the reason a young man’s career is destroyed.

“I’ll give it back and add more,” Agradaa said, positioning her response as a moral stand against the backlash that has erupted.

The viral video has triggered a wider political debate, with some within the Minority in Parliament calling for Gyamfi’s suspension to uphold standards of public trust.
