It’s a hopeless situation – Miracles Aboagye blasts NDC over galamsey

NPP’s Dennis Miracles Aboagye has taken a swipe at the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over what he describes as its failure to address the worsening illegal mining crisis, popularly known as galamsey.
In a statement shared on social media, Aboagye expressed disbelief at the government’s approach to national issues, particularly the state of the environment and water supply in several regions.
“This NDC Government de3 I don’t know who is ‘doing’ them ooo… No one has asked them but they will bring and then when they bring and people start questioning them, they will start crying, warning and threatening,” he wrote.
He lamented the dire state of water access in parts of the country, saying large sections of the Central Region have been without water for months due to the impact of illegal mining.
“You have more than half of Central Region without water in the past two months. With devastating impact of galamsey on communities who have never experienced this before,” he said.
Highlighting the environmental damage, Aboagye pointed to the destruction of major water bodies across the country.
“Offin and Pra rivers are completely dead with changfans and excavators actively mining.
“Nkawkaw and other urban areas are experiencing galamsey in the middle of town,” he noted.
The presidential aide further criticized what he called the government’s lack of urgency and direction, adding that the situation has left the nation “bleeding.”
“The entire country is bleeding, the government says they can’t do much in nine months.
“Yet, the government says they are coming to show us progress. What’s the progress? Arrests of galamseyers and burning of excavators?”
