Herbert Krapa Approved As Minister Of State At Energy Ministry

Herbert Krapa is the Minister of State-designate for the Ministry of Energy, having been authorized by Parliament.

This approval follows the Minority’s blocking of the Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin’s earlier attempt to accelerate his screening and approval.

Following the appointment of Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the current Energy Minister, as the running mate for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the flagbearer of the NPP, President Akufo-Addo has nominated Herbert Krapa, the deputy Energy Minister, to be a Minister of State at the Energy Ministry.

In response, in order to avoid a leadership void in the ministry, the Majority Leader asked Parliament to expedite the approval procedure. The Minority in Parliament, however, was against this request.

Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, the deputy minority leader, contended that as the current Energy Minister was still in office, there was no need for the rush.

The Appointments Committee’s recommendation that Herbert Krapa be approved brought up the matter again today. The Minority eventually walked out in protest, but the report was adopted in the end.
