It’s time gov’t implements proactive measures to prevent market fires

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 running mate, Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, has urged the government to implement proactive measures to prevent Adum fires.
He made this known after he visited the scene of the destroyed market on April 2, 2025.
Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh acknowledged that such a calamity is deeply heartbreaking but encouraged the traders to have faith in God, who, in His infinite mercy, shall restore and replenish all that has been lost.
His position expressed in a post shared via social media said “Earlier today, I visited my dear mothers, fathers, brothers, and sisters who tragically lost their livelihoods in the recent fire outbreak at Adum PZ, Kumasi.
Whilst the pain of such a calamity is deeply heartbreaking, I encouraged them to have faith in God, who, in His infinite mercy, shall restore and replenish all that has been lost.
I seized this moment to appeal to the government, urging them to implement proactive measures to prevent such unfortunate incidents from recurring in the future.
Furthermore, I also appealed to government to act with fairness and compassion, ensuring that the victims receive the justice and support they so rightfully deserve in this time of need.
I hope fervently, that my modest contribution will contribute to the relief we seek urgently for the affected persons.
May God continue to console them and be at work in their lives”.
