John Jinapor and His Delegation Disgracefully Booted Out By Ya Naa

The Energy Minister, John Abdulai Jinapor and his team were sacked by the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya Naa Abukari II, from the palace.

The regent refused to meet the Minister and his delegation at the Gbewaa Palace in Yendi. Neither the Energy Ministry nor the Gbewaa Palace has issued an official statement as of press time.

The minister, who was in the Northern Region to address mounting tensions over the suspension of operations by the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), was turned away from the palace in what has been described as a strong message from the Dagbon traditional authority.

Videos of the incident has since gone viral on social media.

According to palace sources, the Ya Naa expressed deep displeasure over the ongoing power outages and instability that have plunged several parts of Tamale and surrounding areas into darkness for weeks.

The overlord reportedly insisted that he would not entertain any discussions or courtesies until electricity supply was fully restored to the affected communities.

“The Minister was told in clear terms that the Palace would not grant an audience while Tamale sits in darkness. Dagbon deserves better,” one palace insider said.
