John Mahama overseeing a dangerous democracy—Abronye

Bono Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Abronye DC, has expressed concerns about the kind of democracy being practised in Ghana by President John Dramani Mahama.

He says the president is practising a dangerous democracy, and the earlier things are looked at, the better for the country.

Abronye cites his case with the police to back his claim that Ghana is currently practising a dangerous democracy.

To him, the government is using the judiciary to cement its unlawful acts and needs to be checked.

“It is good that after my case, lawyers who are well-versed in the law and my lawyers condemned what happened. It is good that they realized that if they don’t talk about what is happening in the country at the moment, state power is being abused, and intimidation is becoming the order of the day.

“When the government engages in something bad, it uses the judiciary to cement the unlawful to become lawful. This is where the country is being led to, and we need to be very careful. If the government exercises things that are unlawful and uses the judiciary to cement the unlawful to lawful, then it’s a dangerous democracy, and it is good that some of the Lawyers have sensed that President John Dramani Mahama is practising a democracy that is more than a coup d’état government.”
