Minority MPs march to police HQ to demand action

Minority MPs marched to the Police Headquarters to petition the Inspector General of Police over the prolonged delay in announcing the Parliamentary Election results for Ablekuma North constituency following the 2024 General Elections.
Addressing the media on June 4 at the Police Headquarters, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh Dompreh urged the police to provide adequate security for the Electoral Commission (EC) so it can finalize and declare the results without further hindrance.
He emphasized the urgency of the matter, stating, “The absence of a declared MP for Ablekuma North constitutes a serious violation of the constitutional right to representation guaranteed under the 1992 constitution.”
The delay stems from disputes and legal challenges surrounding the vote tally in Ablekuma North, with competing parties contesting the outcome amid reports of irregularities and concerns about voter intimidation.
These issues have stalled the Electoral Commission’s ability to release the official results, creating uncertainty for residents awaiting their parliamentary representative.
