‘Killing Me Softly’ singer Roberta Flack dead

Veteran R&B singer Roberta Flack, best known for her hits ‘The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face’ and ‘Killing Me Softly With His Song’, has died at the age of 88.
Flack could no longer sing because she had motor neuron disease in 2022.
She also had a stroke in 2019, and won a lifetime achievement award from the Grammys a year later.
Flack’s most popular song was introduced to a new generation of music lovers when Lauryn Hill’s hip-hop group The Fugees recorded a Grammy-winning cover of Killing Me Softly, which they would eventually perform on stage alongside her.
It topped the charts around the world in 1996.
