KNUST declares two former students persona non grata over violent conduct

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has declared Mr. Ransford Fosuo-Boateng and Mr. Raphael Appiah persona non grata following their involvement in a violent incident on campus.
A statement from the university’s Registrar, dated April 11, 2025, revealed that the two former students, who completed their studies in the 2020/2021 and 2021/2022 academic years respectively, “physically assaulted some members of the university community” on March 30, 2025.
“Their actions have been found to be in direct breach of the university’s statutes and regulations, and also constitute criminality,” the statement said.
It further indicated that “the two former students were identified as participants in an unlawful gathering” through investigations and CCTV surveillance.
According to the university, “they have been declared persona non grata, and as such are not permitted to be seen in any facility or engage in any activity on KNUST campus.”
The release cautioned current students against participating in or facilitating acts that threaten the safety and integrity of the university community.
“KNUST remains committed to maintaining a safe, secure, and academically conducive environment for all members of the university community,” it added.
The notice was signed by Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, Deputy Registrar of the University Relations Office.
