Kofi Buah unveils Kwame Nkrumah week with Black Star musical

Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources and for Ellembelle Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has announced a week-long celebration in honour of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and Africa’s “Man of the Millennium.”

The festivities, set to begin on September 17 in Nkroful, Nkrumah’s birthplace, will climax on September 20 and 21 with a grand live musical performance.

Sharing the news on social media, Mr Buah revealed that this year’s celebration will feature “Black Star: The Teacher of Africa,” a remarkable musical directed by Ato Ghartey that tells the life and vision of Dr. Nkrumah.

“Today, I had the honour of meeting members of the cast of Black Star: The Teacher of Africa, a remarkable musical directed by Ato Ghartey,” he said. “This production tells the life and vision of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana’s first President and Africa’s man greatest of the Millennium.”

Mr Buah, who represents the constituency where Nkrumah was born, said preserving and promoting the late leader’s legacy has been central to his work as an MP.

“As the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, the birthplace of Nkrumah, I have made it my duty to uplift his legacy both at home and abroad,” he noted.

“Each year, we host The Journey to Nkroful, a week of remembrance and celebration that culminates on Nkrumah’s birthday.”

This year’s highlight, he explained, will be the live staging of Black Star: The Teacher of Africa, which will be performed partly in Ellembelle and broadcast via satellite to reach audiences everywhere.

“I warmly invite everyone to join us in the journey to Nkroful, as we honour the memory and enduring impact of Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah,” Mr Buah said. “Let us come together to celebrate his legacy of freedom, dignity, and unity.”
