Kofi Jumah granted bail

Former Managing Director for GIHOC Distilleries, Maxwell Kofi Jumah has been granted bail by the criminal investigations department of the Ghana Police Service.

He was granted bail to the tune of GHC 500,000 with two sureties.

Kofi Jumah, as he is popularly known, was arrested by personnel of the National Security before he was transferred to the CID.

Addressing the media on his arrest, Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), COP Lydia Yaako Donkor, confirmed that the arrest of former GIHOC Distilleries Managing Director was over allegations of vehicle theft.

According to her, the company alleged that Mr. Jumah had taken possession of vehicles belonging to them without authorization.

“Mr. Maxwell Kofi Jumah was arrested based on a petition submitted to us by GIHOC Distilleries Company Limited,” she said.

“We received a petition to the effect that some vehicles, which were the property of that company, had been stolen by the said Maxwell Kofi Jumah.”

COP Donkor further confirmed progress in the case, stating, “As of this afternoon, we have retrieved two, three vehicles. So the said vehicles that were reported stolen have been recovered.”
