Kofi Jumah transferred to Accra CID after arrest

Maxwell Kofi Jumah, former Managing Director of GIHOC Distilleries, has been moved to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters in Accra following his arrest on Sunday, June 29, 2025.

Jumah was reportedly arrested while celebrating his birthday at a private residence in Kumasi.

He was initially taken to the Ashanti Regional Police Command before being transferred to Accra for further questioning.

His arrest forms part of a broader investigation into allegations of financial impropriety during his tenure at GIHOC Distilleries.

Sources involved in the probe have disclosed that Jumah is under scrutiny for allegedly engaging in unauthorised sales of state assets and irregular vehicle acquisitions while heading the state-owned company.

This latest move by law enforcement follows a prior operation on May 15, 2025, when security officials attempted to retrieve government vehicles reportedly in his possession.

Jumah was not at home during that earlier operation, but the attempt signalled intensifying interest in his dealings while in office.
