Kotoka drug allegations baseless without proof – Ernest Norgbey

Ashaiman MP and Defence and Interior Committee member, Ernest Henry Norgbey, has raised concerns over recent allegations made by his colleague, Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, regarding suspected drug trafficking and money laundering at Kotoka International Airport (KIA).

The controversy began when Fordjour, the Ranking Member of the Defence and Interior Committee and Member of Parliament for Assin South, held a press conference where he alleged that two flights suspected of being involved in illicit activities had landed at KIA.

His claims have since ignited public debate and raised questions about security at the airport.

However, Norgbey has questioned the legitimacy of the allegations and the potential damage they could cause to Ghana’s international reputation. Speaking on Channel One Newsroom, he argued that such claims should not be made publicly without concrete evidence.

“When you make wild allegations that a flight brought cocaine into the country without substantiating it, it goes to dent the integrity of the country,” he stated.

He also criticized Fordjour’s decision to go public with the allegations instead of using the appropriate channels available to him as a legislator.

“Assuming without admitting that what he said was a fallacy. Why do you have to go to the media once you have the channel to go through?” he questioned.
