Lack of funding makes Ghana’s premier league unattractive—Assafuah

The Member of Parliament for Tafo in the Ashanti Region, Vincent Assafuah Ekow Esq. holds the view that the Ghana Premier League is unattractive because of a lack of funding.

He made this known while speaking on the floor of Parliament during the debate on the passage of the Ghana Sports Fund Bill.

He said “It is clear that in our country as we speak, when it comes to resources that are supposed to be used to fund our sporting activities…we have a huge challenge. Let me bring your mind to even the Ghana Premier League as we speak, it is one of the most unattractive sporting activities even in Africa”.

To him, there will be a need for urgent funding for the Ghana Premier League to make it a befitting league.

“The growing unattractiveness is because of lack of funding. Funding that is supposed to be available to be able to boost morale in terms of the Ghana Premier League is unavailable. It is on that basis that we believe that we need to pass this Sports Fund urgently” Vincent Assafuah said.
