Late Gertrude Quashigah’s family rejects Adwoa Safo’s claims of GSFP mismanagement

The family of the late Madam Gertrude Essie Quashigah has expressed deep disappointment over recent allegations made by former Minister for Gender, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, regarding the alleged mismanagement of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) during their mother’s tenure as National Coordinator.

In a statement signed by Isaac Aidoo, Esq., on behalf of the family, they described Adwoa Safo’s claims as “unfounded and unfortunate,” especially as their mother is no longer alive to defend herself.

The family emphasized that under Madam Quashigah’s leadership, the GSFP witnessed significant expansion, improved nutrition, and better welfare for schoolchildren nationwide.

“It is deeply painful that such accusations are being leveled against our mother at a time when she can no longer speak for herself.

These remarks have caused distress, not only to us, her children, but to all who respected her contributions to national development,” the statement read.

The family further questioned the motive behind Adwoa Safo’s claims, highlighting the longstanding relationship between their late father, Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd.), and Hon. Safo’s father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo.

They expressed disappointment that such allegations had been made despite the bond between both families.

Calling for an immediate retraction and apology, the family urged Adwoa Safo to refrain from making further statements that tarnish the legacy of their late mother.

They also appealed to Ghanaians to continue honoring Madam Gertrude Quashigah for her dedication to improving the lives of Ghanaian children.
