Leaders must serve, not flaunt wealth

Presidential aspirant Ing. Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has outlined what he calls his “Triple-S Doctrine”, Service, Sacrifice, and Selflessness, as the moral compass for rebuilding Ghana’s political culture.

The former NPP General Secretary emphasized that leadership must be rooted in character, not wealth.

“Leadership with integrity is what we need,” he said Speaking during an interview on Channel One TV, as monitored by MyNewsGh.

“When I served as Press Secretary to President Kufuor, I did not abuse my office or grab state lands. I chose not to because I believe in sacrifice for my country.”

He criticized politicians who flaunt wealth while citizens struggle with hardship, saying it reflects a lack of sensitivity.

“This is not the time to showcase opulence, lush weddings, lavish birthdays, and motorcades. Public office is about humility and empathy,” he added.

Agyepong also questioned the growing culture of entitlement among youth who see politics as a shortcut to wealth.

“A lot of young people believe they can only depend on handouts from politicians. It is wrong. We must create an economy that allows everyone to realize their potential.”

He explained that his vision for leadership is one that sets an example worth emulating.

“If we the leaders live by service, sacrifice, and selflessness, the rest of the population will follow,” he noted.
