Legends Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather announce 2026 showdown

Boxing fans are set for a blockbuster in 2026 as two of the sport’s most iconic names — Mike Tyson and Floyd Mayweather — prepare to face off in an exhibition bout.
Tyson, 59, revealed the news on September 4 with a dramatic poster titled “Legend vs. Legend” and the simple caption: “Coming Soon.”
He later admitted to TMZ that he was stunned Mayweather accepted, warning the fight could be “detrimental to his health.”
Mayweather, 48, was unfazed. “I’ve been doing this for 30 years and there hasn’t been a single fighter that can tarnish my legacy,” he told TMZ.
“If I’m going to do something, it’s going to be big and legendary. This exhibition will give the fans what they want.”
Since it’s an exhibition, Mayweather’s perfect 50-0 record won’t be affected. Tyson, meanwhile, last stepped into the ring in November 2024, when he lost to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul.
Mayweather’s final professional fight was his 2017 victory over Conor McGregor.
