Legends never die – Stonebwoy pays tribute to Daddy Lumba

Award-winning Ghanaian musician Stonebwoy has joined the wave of tributes pouring in for the late highlife icon Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba, who passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025.

Stonebwoy described the loss as painful but drew comfort from the lasting impact of Lumba’s life and work.

“As hard as this hits 💔, I am only comforted in the firm trust that a true legend never dies. Death will always remain a part of life,” he wrote in a post shared on Facebook and sighted by MyNewsGh.

Stonebwoy, known for blending reggae, dancehall, and Afropop with indigenous sounds, acknowledged Daddy Lumba’s far-reaching influence on Ghanaian music and the broader African soundscape.

“I count myself blessed to have come in touch with a rare one who shaped the sound of Ghana, the African sound, and influenced generations, including those that will forever come after,” he stated.

He urged the state and the nation to take deliberate steps to preserve Lumba’s legacy. “So long as the state and nation preserve his legacy, posthumously he will remain a key contributor to our cultural heritage.”

Stonebwoy further praised the late singer’s unique contribution to music and identity. “You gave us style, soul, and timeless rhythms to life itself, making it meaningful to people from all walks of life. You are a pillar of Ghana’s highlife genre,” he said.

Concluding his tribute, Stonebwoy promised to continue honouring Lumba’s memory: “I’ll continue to honor you 🙏 Rest in peace, LEGENDS NEVER DIE.”
