Let us use religion to reform our economy—Ken Agyapong charges Pastors

On April 20, 2025, Ken Ohene Agyapong, former MP for Assin Central Constituency, joined the Calvary Methodist Church at Adabraka in the Greater Accra Region for the Easter Sunday Service.

Speaking at the event, the former lawmaker emphasised the need for a proper collaboration between politicians and various religious leaders in advancing an agenda for the country’s socio-economic development.

He said, “the people listen to you Pastors and Men of God more than they listen to politicians. As such, we must use religion to drive development in all sectors of the Ghanaian economy”.

Subsequently, Hon. Agyapong referenced a sermon by Dr. Mensah Otabil where the preacher unequivocally indicated that a change in our individual attitudes is the only way the country can develop. According to Hon. Agyapong, the statement by the venerable man of God which includes a call for patriotism and eschewing unscrupulousness underscores the need for a collaboration between pastors and politicians for national development.

It is worth noting that Hon. Agyapong’s entourage included his wife, Mrs. Christiana Agyapong, two of his daughters, two Members of Parliament, five NPP constituency chairmen, three former MPs, a former presidential staffer, friends and other members of the NPP.
