Lordina Mahama breaks down at ceremony for helicopter crash victims

First Lady Lordina Mahama fought back tears as she laid flowers in memory of the eight victims of the August 6 helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District, Ashanti Region.

Accompanied by her children, dignitaries, and mourners, Mrs. Mahama’s grief was evident, drawing sympathy from those present. She was comforted by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and her children.

Minister of Communications Sam George also became emotional during the solemn moment.

The ceremony forms part of a series of national mourning activities ahead of the state burial on August 15, 2025.

The crash claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others, including Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, NDC National Vice Chairman Dr. Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, and Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu.
