Mahama announces state funeral for Nana Kondu Agyemang-Rawlings

President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has announced that there will be a state funeral for the late Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.
According to him, the family can do their traditional funeral after the state funeral is held in memory of the longest-serving first lady of Ghana.
He made this known when he visited the family of the late former first lady on Tuesday, October 28, 2025.
“We are waiting for the family to meet to tell us what their desire is, but as president, I want to announce that we shall give her a state funeral. The family can do a traditional funeral after the state funeral,” he said.
Adding that “once we know what the dates are, we will do the programme and the state will give her the full honours that she deserves as our former first lady and mother of the nation”.
Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings died at the Ridge Hospital on October 23, 2025, after a short illness.
