Mahama appoints 18 Deputy Heads of mission worldwide

President John Dramani Mahama has named 18 new Deputy Heads of Mission to serve in Ghana’s diplomatic missions around the world, a move signaling a blend of experience and continuity in his administration’s foreign affairs strategy.
The appointments, contained in a letter dated September 11, 2025, and signed by Dr. Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, were directed to the Minister of Foreign Affairs to initiate the deployment process.
Among the notable names are former Chief of Defence Staff, General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, who has been assigned to Ghana’s mission in Canada, and former presidential spokesperson Ben Dotsei Malor, who will serve as Deputy Head of Mission in Washington, D.C.
Others include Dr. Palmer Appiah-Gyan for Germany, Dr. Harry Zevon for China, and Mr. Aquinas Quansah for the United Kingdom. In Europe, Mr. Emmanuel Netsey-Afedo heads to The Netherlands, Mrs. Sophia Karen Edem Ackuaku to Italy, Mr. Kwadwo Agyei-Dwomor to Türkiye, Mr. Emmanuel Kamban Panyan to Russia, and Rev. Dr. Isaac Clive Mould to Denmark.
In Africa and Asia, Alhaji Mohammed Seidu Issah Abah will serve in South Africa, Mr. Francis Thalamus Doe in Japan, and Mr. Sulemana Ibun Iddrissu in India. The Middle East postings include Mrs. Jamilatu Amadu to the UAE, Mr. Sanni Jajah to Saudi Arabia, and Dr. Mohammed Ibn Chambas to Egypt.
