Mahama looks unprepared for the job — Palgrave Boakye

Former government spokesperson on governance and security, Dr. Palgrave Boakye-Danquah, has expressed deep concern over what he describes as President John Dramani Mahama’s lack of urgency in addressing Ghana’s mounting national challenges.

Speaking on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh, he accused the President of appearing indecisive at a time when the nation is grappling with water shortages, illegal mining, and deteriorating public confidence.

Dr. Boakye-Danquah referenced reports that students from Wesley Girls’ High School and other institutions are carrying buckets to fetch water due to a shutdown in water systems, a situation he attributes to small-scale mining pollution.

“These are the future leaders of our country, yet they’re carrying buckets on their heads because of a water crisis. Leadership requires courage, not confusion,” he lamented.

He further argued that the President’s reliance on national security advice before declaring a state of emergency reflects indecision in the face of chaos.

“This is supposed to be his legacy presidency. He had eight years to prepare and should have hit the ground running,” he asserted.

Boakye-Danquah also called for a substantive Defence Minister to replace acting officials, emphasizing that key security issues, including military expansion and displaced persons from Burkina Faso, require strong ministerial leadership.
